Give Nature a vacuum--an abandoned cattle field por ejemplo--and she will give you hardy weeds and pioneer species first, and complete complexity years later. We don’t have that kind of time. One of the most exciting activities at Selva Nueva is the constant native plant propagation and planting, watched with an eye toward what it would have been like had humans not disrupted the flow. The mission is regeneration by design; actively planting and planing accelerates succession as thousands of native trees ripen into riparian buffer zones and wildlife habitat: the corridors reborn!
